Help Toast Find a Single Cat Home

Toast Needs a Home

Toast is a feline behavior client who would be better served in an only-pet home due to anxiety, redirected aggression, and resource guarding. His person has reached out to several local organizations to help with a foster or adoption option, and there is not currently room in any of the local programs from this special guy.

Toast’s Official Profile

Toast- full name Toaster Oven, is a very tender and loving guy, bonding deeply with people. He loves to play fetch with his toys and watch out the window for birds and squirrels. Always happy to snuggle under a blanket, or simply keep company next to you. Will gladly lounge in a cardboard box all day.

Although anxious at first around new people, some quiet time and patience is all he needs to come out and seek affection again. The need for a new home is due to his developing aggression towards the resident senior cat as he's aged and become ill.

Toast would thrive in an only-pet household where he can be the center of attention. Preferably someone experienced with cats, as he needs someone willing to continue medication management for his anxiety.

Toast is currently listed on Adoptapet.com while his person waits to hear back from local foster organizations who may be able to help with placement. You can check out and share his listing here.

Jaime’s Observations

I recently worked with Toast and his family after a move that resulted in less space, the loss of one younger cat, and the reduction of humans in the home. Additionally, the other senior feline resident is experiencing increased illness. Toast has become aggressive toward the senior cat, and space and resources do not support a full reintroduction.

Toast is consistently loving toward people and even spent our video calls sitting on the lap of his favorite person for extended periods of time. He is affectionate, clever, communicative, curious, playful, and snuggly. He is also nervous around new people and takes time to adjust to the noises and smells of a new home.

Toast appears to feel threatened by the increased health issues of the senior feline he shares his home with at this time. He is possessive of his resources - food and people, and sometimes chooses destructive habits (late night yowling and scratching) to get attention.

Toast would do best with an experienced, prepared adopter who understands that stress may trigger medical needs. He is extremely food motivated, which makes him easily trainable and also very focused on his food schedule. An automatic, timed feeder will be supplied to Toast’s new adopter to curb late night attention and food seeking.

Toast would make a great companion in an only cat home. He is playful, loving, and so very handsome. If you know of an individual or organization who can step forward to help Toast, please reach out to me.

I will offer a free 45-60 minute feline behavior consultation to his adopter to help set Toast up for success in his new environment.
