What Guides My Work
The Empowered Companion® is rooted in a simple belief: animals are aware, feeling beings, and the relationships we share with them deserve to be approached with compassion, curiosity, and respect.
My work supports animals and the people who walk beside them through every season of life. These companions may be the guardians who share their homes, veterinary professionals, pet sitters and animal care providers, shelter and rescue workers, sanctuary caregivers, volunteers, or others devoted to animal well-being.
Although the form of support may change—from Reiki and behavior guidance to shared experiences, education, end-of-life care, and grief support—the heart of my work remains the same: honoring animals, strengthening connection, and helping people meet the path before them with greater presence.
My Mission
My mission is to strengthen and honor the relationships between animals and those who walk beside them through compassionate services, shared experiences, and education rooted in calm, connection, and presence.
I support animals, their families, and the wider community of people who care for them through every season of life—from their earliest days through aging, end of life, death, and grief—while honoring each animal as a sentient being with their own agency, wisdom, preferences, and ways of communicating.
My Vision
I envision a world in which animals are recognized as aware, feelingbeings and respected as active participants in the relationships and decisions that shape their lives.
I want the people who love, care for, serve, and advocate for animals to feel supported, informed, and connected to one another. This includes the guardians who share their homes with animals, as well as veterinary professionals, pet sitters, animal care providers, shelter and rescue workers, sanctuary caregivers, volunteers, and others devoted to animal well-being.
I believe that changing how we live alongside animals—how we listen, care, communicate, make decisions, and remain present during life’s most tender transitions—creates ripples of compassion that extend beyond individual homes and into our communities and shared world.
My Values
Compassion
I meet animals and people with kindness, empathy, and an open heart. I recognize that caregiving, behavior challenges, aging, difficult decisions, death, and grief can bring complex emotions. I offer support without shame, pressure, or judgment.
Agency & Respect
I recognize animals as sentient beings with their own preferences, boundaries, emotions, and wisdom. I listen to the animal, honor choice whenever possible, and seek approaches grounded in consent, trust, and mutual respect rather than force or control.
Presence & Connection
I believe meaningful connection begins with being fully present. By slowing down, listening, and releasing expectations, I make room for trust, understanding, communication, and healing to unfold in ways that respect everyone involved.
Education & Empowerment
I share knowledge, practices, and resources that help people better understand the animals in their lives and make thoughtful, informed decisions. My purpose is not to position myself as the sole authority, but to help people feel more confident in their ability to listen, learn, advocate, and care.
Collaboration & Community
I believe animals thrive when the people around them communicate and work together. I seek to cultivate connection among families, caregivers, animal professionals, volunteers, and community organizations so that animals—and the people devoted to them—are held within a stronger circle of care.
Whole-Being Care
I recognize that physical, emotional, mental, social, energetic, and spiritual well-being are interconnected. I consider the well-being of the animal, the people who love them, and the larger household or care community throughout every stage of life.
Integrity & Humility
I practice with honesty, transparency, appropriate professional boundaries, and respect for the scope of my work. I remain committed to continued learning and recognize that animals are not only recipients of care, but also partners and teachers who continually deepen my understanding.
Walking the Whole Path Together
The relationship we share with an animal is built over a lifetime—in the quiet routines, joyful discoveries, difficult seasons, changing needs, and countless ordinary moments of choosing one another.
How we live together shapes how we are able to care for one another when life becomes uncertain. By tending the bond from the beginning, we become better prepared to support our animals as they age, advocate for them when they need us, and remain present during the tender passage through end of life and death.
This is what it means to me to be an empowered companion: to walk beside an animal with love, respect, and an open heart—from the first hello through the final goodbye, and into the bond that continues.
An Ethical Foundation
My work is informed by the Let Animals Lead® method of Animal Reiki and the Animal Reiki Practitioner Code of Ethics developed by Kathleen Prasad the Shelter Animal Reiki Association. These teachings reinforce my commitment to honoring animals as equal participants in the healing process, respecting their agency, and approaching every interaction with humility, compassion, and gratitude.
You Are Welcome Here
Whether you share your home with an animal, care for animals professionally, support a rescue or sanctuary, volunteer in your community, or simply want to deepen your relationship with animalkind, you are welcome here.
You do not need to have all the answers. You only need a willingness to listen, remaincurious, and meet animals—and yourself—with compassion.
