Humans who travel frequently need peace of mind, knowing their animals are in the competent care of a connection-focused pet sitter. The Empowered Companion is the right community of animal-loving professionals to meet your companion care needs and fall in love with your pets.

We offer Compassionate Care Pet Sitting for companion animals in the comfort of their home. We believe in providing more than just access to the necessities of food, water, and toilet. While your pet is in our care, we let them lead the way in expressing boundaries and communicating how they like to play and receive affection. We happily get down on the ground to love and entertain your precious family member, and we will match your companion’s energy level for the best experience possible.

At The Empowered Companion, we strive to maintain a peaceful, compassionate demeanor each time we interact with animals to create a fear-free experience, honoring your pet’s agency and empowering them to let their perfect inner light shine through. We specialize in supporting senior and highly sensitive pets, and we adore working with animal guardians who believe in connecting with animals energetically. We wear our hearts on our sleeves and share our love generously.

 FAQ’s

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: What makes Compassionate Care Pet Sitters different from others?

The Empowered Companion maintains National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS) certification and bonds and insures employees as professional pet sitters. Our Compassionate Care Pet Sitters receive ongoing training, including pet first aid and CPR certification within their first two months of work. Additionally, we teach our sitters the principles, precepts, practices, and ethics of Animal Reiki and End of Life Doula work from day one through our training manuals, practices, and policies. Within six months of employment, each sitter has the option to obtain their Level One Practitioner certification in the Let Animals Lead method of Animal Reiki.

We believe the health and well being of the animals in our care is directly linked to the overall comfort and security of the family as a whole. Compassionate Care Pet Sitters use all they learn to uniquely companion both the animals and humans we serve.

Additionally, we believe in cultivating community. All of our Compassionate Care Families are invited to join us during their companion animal’s birth month for a free Birthday Mediation Celebration!

Q: What are basic services I can expect from a Compassionate Care Pet Sitting visit?

A: Compassionate Care Pet Sitting visits take place in your home. We provide meals, water, waste removal, brushing/combing and medication based on your existing routines on-site. We also offer plenty of love and play! We respect animal agency and treat your family as our own. Know the pets in your home will be approached from a place of compassion and treated as conscious beings whose boundaries and needs are honored. Our sitters clean up after themselves and the animals they care for during visits. This includes sweeping/vacuuming litter tracked outside the box, washing pet dishes, wiping down surfaces in their work area, and cleaning up messes. We also bring in mail and will water a reasonable number of plants, time allowing.

Q: What services are not provided during pet sitting visits?

A: Our sitters do not provide professional grooming, snow removal, laundry or cleaning services outside of those directly related to pet care (i.e cleaning bathrooms, etc.), or pet sitting for others not included in the booking.

Q: What is a pet sitting consultation and do I need one?

A: Required for all new clients, our Initial Pet Sitting Consultation allows us to meet you and your pet in your home, review care routines, and ask and answer questions prior to your first pet sitting service. We will collect your house key or access code at this time. Additional Consultations are available to review significant changes to pet care in your home, meet new pets, visit your new location after a move, or to go over questions regarding new routines.

Q: What length of visit(s) should I book for my pet sitting?

A: We have suggestions for minimum times, but longer visits simply allow more time for play, love, and company! Times will be revisited at the Initial Consultation to ensure we are on the same page.

30 minutes:

1-2 animals following the same routines

  • 1-3 litter boxes

  • 15 minute dog walk plus monitored or complex feeding

  • 20-25 minute dog walk without feeding or simple feeding routine

45 minutes:

3-4 animals following the same routines, or 1-3 animals with complex routines

  • 3+ litter boxes

  • 25-30 minute dog walk plus monitored or complex feeding

  • 30-40 minute dog walk without feeding or simple feeding routine

  • Plants requiring watering in more than 2 locations inside or outside the house

  • Households where vomit, inappropriate toileting or other messes regularly occur

1 hour:

5+  animals following the same routines, or 4+ animals with complex routines

  • 3+ litter boxes

  • 35-45 minute dog walk plus monitored or complex feeding

  • 45-50 minute dog walk without feeding or simple feeding routine

  • Extensive plant care

  • Households where vomit, inappropriate toileting or other messes regularly occur

Q: What animal species do you care for?

A: Our pet sitting areas of expertise currently include cats and dogs. However, we are happy to care for fish, reptiles, rabbits, chickens, hamsters, guinea pigs, and other pocket and exotic animals with your detailed instruction.

Q: Can you help “fix” my cat’s behavioral issues while pet sitting?

A: While our owner and founder, Jaime Kuhn, is a Feline Training and Behavior Modification Professional, please note that behavioral issues are rarely fixed with one quick suggestion and are best served following a detailed plan of action with regularly scheduled follow up contact with a professional. We’re happy to provide a suggestion or two; however, if you expect true results, behavioral work needs to be obtained outside of pet sitting visits.

Q: How far in advance should I book a pet sitter?

A: We ask new clients to book services at least two (2) weeks in advance of the first visit to allow time for an initial consultation. We recommend booking our services as soon as you are aware you will need them. Requests made after 5pm the day before incur a Last Minute Fee (LMF).

Q: What areas do you service?

A: We currently offer pet sitting services within a 4-5 mile radius of our home base in Englewood, CO. This includes zip codes 80110, 80113, 80209, 80210, 80222, 80223, 80236, 80237, and 80246.

Q: Is The Empowered Companion insured and bonded?

A: Yes. The Certificate of Insurance is posted within the client portal. We provide our clients with the peace of mind of liability insurance and bonding to protect your family and home, and we protect the safety of our staff with a comprehensive workers compensation policy.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?

Additionally, the Empowered Companion reserves the right to charge a cancellation fee of 100% of the scheduled visits in the event of a late departure or early return home, with less than 48 hours notice prior to the first scheduled service start date and time of a total pet sitting reservation.
